Chapter 18: Jakon - Swordpulp Studios

BOOM!

From nearby. The smell of more shattered rocks. A cloud of gray fumed from the wall. More orcish squeals of bloodthirsty glee.

Yet Jakon held himself back from lunging off the ledge. For a moment. Access the situation for a moment.

Just a moment.

The air itself. The stink of orc. And worse. Of the awful burnt death he read about countless times in his dime dreadfuls.

His heart raged. His grip on the magical short sword got tighter and tighter. The damage from the attack was clear.

Below him the craggy jagged incline was too steep to charge down.

Too new. Too jagged.

Too many warthog-faced orcs screaming. Their iron scimitars waving for dwarf blood.

And not enough dwarven axes waving back.

Yet.

Too many enemies to climb down the slope carefully.

Another bolt of blue lightning? Striking nearby. Another wall.

Another boom.

More shattered rock. More dust biting his breathe. A gray cloud fuming. Hiding more death and destruction.

When a bolt of blue lightning struck at him.

Struck the sword.

And got sucked in? Absorbed!

Powered him up stronger than any of mom’s corned beef sandwiches could. Jakon roared with dwarven fury. Bellowed with dwarven rage.

And leapt. Down the steep jagged slope. Jumping down boulder after boulder.

Into the midst of the orcs.

Cutting them down. His blade slicing quickly. Deadly.

And through their leather tunics with ease. Smashing through the wooden shields were less ease. Shattering their iron blades with only a little more effort.

A dance to the deadly doom.

Another bolt came his way.

Almost zipped above him.

But forks down. Struck his sword instead?

Got absorbed again!

And now even the orc’s iron shields posed no barrier to his blade. Nothing stopped his dance of orc death.

Except for the orc numbers.

More and more and more.

When he spotted the source of the lightning—a snow vixen witch.

Like an evil Azura.

On top of a ring of tall craggy boulders. A dozen paces away. Downwards.

The snow vixen looked right up at him. In snake-themed bone armor and snarling vicious.

Good. Time to end this attack. Now.
